By the time this news becomes really relevant I’ll nearly be 20 years old… but this is too cool to hold in!

In 2017 something cool is coming people… it’s an animated TV series… on Disney Channel based on… TANGLED!

You know, that hugely successful feature film based on the story of Rapunzel telling the story of a lost young princess with long magical hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower. Against her mother's wishes, she accepts the aid of a handsome intruder to take her out into the world which she has never seen.

And, if this news could not get any better, Mandy Moore (who played the stunning Rapunzel) and Zachary Levi (AKA the hunk that is Eugene) are reprising their roles for the series!

Production has officially begun, with the series having been developed by the genius’ that are Chris Sonnenburg (also the genius behind Disney’s Enchanted) and Shane Prigmore (the other genius behind The LEGO Movie).

So, what else can we tell you about it?

Well, the series will be set between the events of the future and the start of the 2012 short film, Tangled Ever After and begins as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona. Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny. She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel's youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman.

Accompanying Rapunzel on her journey will be Eugene; the plucky chameleon sidekick, Pascal; the no-nonsense horse, Maximus; the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs; and newcomer Cassandra, a tough-as-nails handmaiden, who becomes Rapunzel's confidant.

Don’t hold your breath, the series is not coming until 2017 but when it does finally arrive on our TV screens… you know we’ll be singing along!
